Call for Abstracts
The Midwest Sport and Exercise Psychology Symposium will be held February 23rd &
24th, 2007 on the campus of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. The
program will consist of student research presentations, research proposals, and
applied sport psychology presentations. Papers that have been presented
elsewhere or submitted for upcoming conferences will be accepted. Students
wanting to present must submit an abstract in accordance with the following
submission procedures, and may present only once during the conference.
However, an individual may be listed as co-author on more than one abstract.
Presentations are tentatively scheduled to last 15 minutes (12 minute
presentations with 3 minutes of questions and discussion). Submission Deadline:

Call for Abstracts
The Southwest Sport and Exercise Psychology Symposium will be held February 16 &
17, 2007 on the campus of the University of Utah. The program will consist of
student research presentations, research proposals, and applied sport and
exercise psychology presentations. Papers that have been presented elsewhere or
submitted for upcoming conferences will be accepted. Students wanting to present
must submit an abstract in accordance with the following submission procedures,
and may present only once during the conference. However, an individual may be

minutes of questions and discussion).

Types of Presentations
Research Presentations. These are presentations that involve completed
data-based research on sport and exercise psychology topics.
Research Proposals. These are presentations that involve developing research
ideas. The speaker should provide the audience with rationale for the study,
questions or hypotheses, and proposed methodology for the study. Preliminary or
pilot data will be welcome, but not required. Research proposals can elaborate
further on the hypotheses, rationale, methodology, and topics for research
discussion than research presentations.
Applied Presentations. These are presentations that involve unique intervention
techniques or programs. Presentations should include a description of the
population, targeted skills or problems, the specific intervention protocols,
and an evaluation or evaluation plan.
Submission Procedures
A completed submission cover page and abstract are required for each submission.
Be certain to complete all items on the cover page and adhere to all abstract
guidelines.
Cover Page. The cover page can be found in the following pages.
Abstract Guidelines. A one page typed abstract is required for each submission.
This abstract will also be included in the symposium program for attendees. The
abstract is to be in Times New Roman 12-pt. font with all margins set at 1.5
inches. The following information should be provided: The title on the top line
(in bold) followed by a double space and then the authors’ first and last name,
their affiliation, city, and zip code. This information should be followed by
another double line space and then single spaced text.
Abstracts should include the following:
A clear statement of the problem and its significance
A general description of the methods used or proposed
A summary of the results or how the results will be analyzed (if proposal)
The major conclusions and practical implications of the study
