Research Overview:

The GSU Sport Psychology Laboratory conducts research on numerous
topics related to performance enhancement including psychological
momentum, performance slumps, concentration, team dynamics, and social influences. The Lab also provides service activities to the Universityathletic departments, local sport and fitness groups. Such activities include individual training sessions, team training sessions and group training for athletes and coaches. Topics covered include imagery,
concentration, leadership, goal setting, team building, stress
management, and slump busting. In addition, the Lab serves as a support for instruction in sport and exercise psychology, motor learning, and performance psychology.  The Lab also houses a resource center for athletes and coaches including videos, audiotapes, newsletters, and
databases.

The Sport Psychology Laboratory provides facilities and space for
students and faculty at Georgia Southern and provides opportunities for
practical experience in sport psychology consultation. Available
equipment allows for measurement of many levels of motor skills as well
as cognitive-affective factors related to performance. In addition, the
Lab is equipped with audiovisual equipment for imagery research and
training.
