Summary of Research and Teaching Interests:
My research program examines Type-II Diabetes/Metabolic Syndrome and Religiosity (and the effects of Religiosity on health) in later life. I am also beginning to look at this work intergenerationally. Some of this work is done in collaboration with other members of the Clinical Health Psychology Program faculty. Other of this work involves secondary data analysis of National Institute on Aging (NIA) national probably sample longitudinal datasets called the HRS/AHEAD datasets, as well as other U.S. national datasets including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
I am particularly interested in ethnic/racial health disparities and how factors differ between racial/ethnic groups (African American, Hispanic, non-Hispanic Caucasian). |
