Director of
Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine
February 15
deadline for consideration.
Applications are being accepted for a start date of
Fall 2007 or Spring 2008. The department has three APA accredited,
scientist-practitioner programs (Clinical, Counseling, Health
Psychology/Behavioral Medicine) and an Applied Experimental Ph.D.
program. We are currently growing
and changing. The entire Department has recently engaged in a
strategic planning process. This strategic plan includes showcasing the
large on-site training clinic for research with community and clinical
samples, community education and service. UNT, is 35 miles north of
Dallas
and
Fort Worth
on I-35, has an increasingly diverse faculty and student body.
This position is for a Full or senior Associate
Professor to be Director of the
Health Psychology/ Behavioral Medicine Ph.D. Program. This program is
a consortium with UNT’s Health Sciences Center (UNTHSC) in
Fort Worth
(UNTHSC has public health, allied
health, osteopathic medicine, and biomedical sciences schools). As the
program is
APA accredited under clinical programs, licensure is desirable. However,
under some conditions we could separate the programmatic and clinical
administrative functions. Students do clinical work and research through
a network of 15 medical centers, hospitals, and clinics in the area,
UNTHSC and our large and sophisticated on-site Psychology Clinic. Program
faculty and student research in
Denton
includes the Center for Psychosocial Health, Sleep Lab, CardioHealth Lab,
and Neurotherapy Lab. The program is strongly committed to the
biopsychosocial model of health with the curriculum reflecting this
perspective. A strong record of extramural funding is preferred and a
strong record of published research is required. Salary and start-up
funds are negotiable. With some limitations due to the candidate’s
specific program of research (topic and methods), lab space is available
in the building. An augmentation or course release for the academic year
is negotiable. Program Directors are also paid the equivalent of one
course for administrative work during summers.
This position will be attractive to candidates who
have an interest in innovation and program building.
Please send a cover letter, statement of interests,
CV and 2-4 recent reprints. As this is a senior position, recommendation
letters can be sent at a later time. Send applications to Linda L.
