Psyc 5590 Marriage and Family Interaction
3 hours. This course will examine health and dysfunction in the family system and subsystems, including marital, parent-child and sibling interaction processes. Emphasis will be on family development in the context of normative transitions and non-normative stressors. Implications of these factors for marriage/family counseling and parent training will be considered.

Psyc 6150 Marriage and Family Therapy I
3 hours. An examination of theories of health and dysfunction in the marital and family systems within their sociocultural contexts. Emphasis on theories and techniques of family therapy, assessment of the family as a behavioral system, and integrative treatment planning. Open only to Ph.D. candidates. Prerequisite: Consent of the instructor.

Psyc 6160 Marriage and Family Therapy II
3 hours. Application of the major principles of family therapy. Emphasis on the development of family intervention skills through practice in conducting family therapy at the UNT Psychology Clinic. Requirements include family assessment reports, weekly treatment planning and family therapy sessions, videotaped and live supervision, and behind-the-mirror consultation. Open only to Ph.D. candidates. Prerequisite: Psyc 6150 or the consent of instructor.

Psyc 6820-6830 Advanced Practicum
3 hours. Supervised counseling experience at the UNT Psychology Clinic servicing the Denton area community. Open only to Ph.D. candidates in psychology.

Psyc 5780 Advanced Psychopathology
3 hours. This course was designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the mental disorders and their diagnostic criteria as specified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Mental illness is explored from several theoretical perspectives, emphasizing a biopsychosocial approach. The course examines issues in etiology, diagnosis, classification, and intervention. Prerequisite: Psyc 4610 and 5010 or equivalents, or consent of the department.
