Summer I 2004 – University of North Texas
One description of
the present state of Psychology is that it is not a unified discipline; rather
it is a set of loosely-related subfields.
Your team is to explore the nature of psychology given the previous
description. The team will present a
description of the subfields of psychology.
Specifically, you are to:
- Identify as many
subfields of psychology as possible. Be
sure to think critically if each subfield you identify is a division of
psychology or an area of interest within a subfield (i.e., a subfield of
subfield).
- For each subfield
you identify, you should also identify some of the leading/most influential
psychologists in that subfield.
-Identify the types
of methods used by that subfield.
-Indicate whether
each subfield is distinguished by it’s a) methodology, b) content or
population, or c) theoretical position.
- Indicate any
overlap with other subfields.
