Research Interests:
My research
program examines Type-II Diabetes/Metabolic Syndrome and Religiosity (and the
effects of Religiosity on health) in later life. I would like to look at this work
intergenerationally. Some of this work is done in collaboration with members of the Clinical Health
Psychology Program faculty. Other of
this work involves secondary data analysis of National Institute on Aging (NIA)
national probably sample longitudinal datasets called the Health and Retirement
Study/Assets and Health Dynamics of the Oldest Old
(HRS/AHEAD) datasets, as well as other U.S. national datasets including the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) National Health and
Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). I am particularly interested in ethnic/racial health disparities and how factors differ between
racial/ethnic groups (African American, Hispanic, non-Hispanic Caucasian).
Important note for applicants:
For this coming fall 2013 admissions, I may personally admit one, or possibly two students to the Clinical Health
Psychology Ph.D. program.
